As some of you may know, every year we get our photos done. The point was to get them done in our Anniversary month, but for the last 3 years we haven’t been together on our anniversary. So, we improvise and fit it in when we can. For some reason that’s been during winter for the last 3 years.
I pick a different photographer every year to do our photos as well. I do this because I really enjoy community over competition. I enjoy seeing others’ work and praising them for their talent. Why? Because my talent is not the same as the next photographers talent. Believe it or not, we all have our own styles, personalities and ways of photographing others. Why wouldn’t I want to support that? I have a passion of helping others and lifting people up. So, that’s why I choose a different photographer every year.
That’s how I roll anyways!
This last year was a hard one. It was Nathan’s first deployment since joining the Military. As busy as I stayed and as strong as I seemed, I struggled. We don’t have kids and we don’t have family nearby. There were times when the house would be so quiet I wanted to cry. I leaned on my friends here, but sometimes I just needed my husband, my best friend. It was difficult. We couldn’t talk much as he had limited data so, texting was basically all we did for SIX MONTHS. towards the end of his deployment he called me and it had been so long since I heard his voice I almost hung up on him. lol
I had changed regular jobs during deployment (yep…I have a 9-5 too!) and I also focused all my remaining energy on my business. My photography business is my baby. I truly enjoy what I do and getting to help people capture memories is a passion of mine. So, I’m glad that during one of the hardest times of my life, I put all my energy into this business and so far, I think I’ve pulled it off well!
Anyways, I wanted to share a little of our 5 year anniversary photos. These were taken in December after Nathan got back. Hopefully this year we can take our photos in our actual anniversary month. lol 😉
My Love for Alpaca’s and llama’s grew more this day…and this was a total dream come true! Thank you Christina from Saved by Grace Photography for capturing this cuteness and making a couple of goofballs look pretty good. 😉
We have a photo just like this one below from our engagement session and it’s one of my favorites. I think the updated one is now my new favorite. 😀
